•   Nanci Ryder Public Relationsis established.

•   Adams & Rinehart (A&R)acquires Earl Newsom & Co., specialists in executive recruitment for PR.

•   O&M Worldwideacquires Dudley-Anderson-Yutzy PR, Inc. (D-A-Y), specialists in food-related marketing and the oldest continuously operating PR firm in the world.

•   D-A-Ysaves Halloween after the previous year's candy sales plummeted due to tampering fears post-1982-Tylenol-tampering scare. They hired Dr. Joyce Brothers to discuss safety and children's need to express their creativity at Halloween.

•   D-A-Ysells the Brooklyn Bridge! And pulls off "the public relations triumph of 1983." 1,200 U.S. and international journalists, along with 2.1M New Yorkers and tourists, plus D-A-Y owners Barbara Hunter and Jean Way Schoonover, attend the day-long celebration for the Brooklyn Bridge Centennial.
