•   David Ogilvypasses away at the age of 88.

•   Stigma PRin Athens, Greece joins the Ogilvy PR Network.

•   Ogilvy PRacquires Sector Communications and Magellan Medical Communications and rolls their operations into Ogilvy PR London.

•   Ogilvy PRacquires Feinstein Kean Healthcare (FKH), the largest U.S. independent biotechnology and health care specialist firm. Clients include Amgen, LeukoSite, Advanced Cell Technology, Reprosedesis, CuraGen, Arqu and Novartis.

•   Ogilvy PRacquires B|W|R, the corporate and entertainment specialist PR firm.

•   AOPRopens New York, London and Washington, DC offices.

•   Ogilvy PRis ranked number nine, with $125M and 1,100 staff, and re-enters the top ten list of agencies worldwide. Ogilvy PR Technology, Health & Medical and Consumer Specialties are ranked third largest in size by the Council of PR Firms.

•   Ogilvy PRis named the Most Improved Major Agency, by Inside PR.

•   Ogilvy PR Londonis named the fastest growing top 20 agency in 1999.

•   e-Brands, which couples Alexander Ogilvy experience and leadership in technology with Ogilvy PR's global reach and brand marketing expertise, is launched.

•   Ogilvy PRwins a brand positioning assignment from McKesson for the merger between McKesson and HBOC, and subsequently assists McKessonHBOC with a restatement of earnings, one of largest for a Fortune 500 company.

•   Ogilvy PRlaunches the Merck Propecia year-long "Hats Off! Charity Challenge" at the 1999 Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Boston.

•   B|W|Rpromotes the Oxygen Media cable network, the first TV channel devoted to women.

•   Ogilvy PRcreates the first Environmental Public Awareness Program in the former Soviet Union, spanning 13 countries over three years on behalf of the European Commission.

•   Ogilvy PRmanages KPNQwest's IPO, raising $1B in what is termed the most successful European IPO in 1999.

•   FKHsupports the first U.S./European IPO, Biomarin.

•   Ogilvy PRmanages publicity surrounding Fortune Magazine's Global Forum Conference in Shanghai, and is subsequently retained for the Paris conference the following year.

•   The Marketing Practicecreates a Nutrition & Health Specialty and wins The Minute Maid Company's branded nutrition business.

•   Ogilvy PR and Alexander Ogilvycombine marketing and technology savvy to win, then launch AmericanGreetings.com with the Halloween e-promotion, SCREAMail.

•   The Perrier Millennium Countdown Plannerdrove 26 times the normal web site traffic, 26,000 visits (up from 1,000 a day) and culminated in an appearance on 'Oprah.'
