Washington, D.C., May 4, 2009 – ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership (ASAE & The Center) today launched a communications campaign intended to broadcast how associations across all industry sectors and in every state harness the power of millions to help jumpstart America’s economic engine and help propel the nation toward recovery. ASAE & The Center hired Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide (Ogilvy PR) in mid-March to design and implement the integrated campaign.
“Working collectively to solve problems has never been more important than this moment in modern history,” said ASAE President & CEO John H. Graham IV, CAE. “The association community has perfected the art of collaboration, a valuable skill when all of the country’s strength is needed to rebuild the economy and investigate, analyze and resolve issues of national importance such as healthcare, education, employment and housing. Ogilvy PR has helped bring association capabilities to life in a real, relevant and powerful way.”
Entitled The Power of A (the letter A standing for “Associations”), the program underscores the many ways in which national trade and professional groups assist U.S. employers, legislators, workers and the public at large every day. The Power of A is associations’ ability to help build a stronger economy through workforce education, expert points of view, enriched public policy, innovative business practices and a spirit of community service.
The Washington, D.C. office of Ogilvy PR was engaged by ASAE & The Center to develop and implement the campaign, whose top priority is to inform decision makers on Capitol Hill, particularly those individuals who comprise the group of newest political gatekeepers to the American public. Ogilvy PR created the campaign Web site, www.ThePowerOfA.org, to bring the program to life digitally. The site includes an Economy to the Power of A blog summit, which offers global association perspectives on the issues of healthcare, jobs and energy, among other subjects. The conversation also can be followed on Twitter using #pwra.
A blended Ogilvy PR team of creative, public affairs, media and digital strategists will bring ASAE & The Center’s integrated program to life primarily through television and digital media. Ogilvy PR has worked with more than 50 associations to help them achieve their issues management, industry reputation, member communications and category marketing goals.
