False Document About HIV Being Circulated by E-mail and Fax

Washington, DC — There is a false document being circulated today in the District of Columbia Metropolitan Area on OgilvyPR Worldwide letterhead. The document discusses HIV testing issues in District of Columbia, Suburban Virginia and Maryland schools and was distributed via fax on OgilvyPR letterhead without our company's knowledge or authorization. We have not distributed any statement on our behalf or any of our client's behalf on this issue, and we do not know the author of this statement.

We are seeking to identify what individuals or organizations are the source of this document and will be demanding a cessation to unauthorized use of our letterhead for this unapproved purpose.

This is a serious issue for us. Beyond the illegal use of our company letterhead, we have been committed to raising awareness of the issues of HIV/AIDS as health communicators for more than 25 years. The distribution of false information concerns us deeply, and we are working with all local officials, school superintendents and principals and parents to stop further distribution of this false document.

We will provide any new information as it becomes available on this section of our company's web site. If you would like to speak with someone at our D.C. office please call 202-729-4000.
