FedBid Chooses Ogilvy Public Relations’ Technology Practice for Communications Services

Leading Government Procurement Marketplace Leverages Ogilvy’s Technology and Government Industry Expertise

Washington, D.C., Jan. 25, 2006 - FedBid, Inc., a leading online marketplace for public sector acquisition of commercial items, has selected the technology practice of Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide (Ogilvy PR) to manage its communications program.

“FedBid chose Ogilvy PR not only because of its strong understanding of the government and technology markets, but also for its deep agency resources,” said Brendan Walsh, FedBid’s vice president of development. “Ogilvy PR showed a commitment to our business, and we anticipate a long-term, successful partnership with the agency.”

FedBid provides online procurement services, including reverse auction and ePayment offerings, through its buyer-driven online marketplace. The company sought public relations services to raise the company’s profile among federal government buyers and encourage them to use its service. FedBid selected Ogilvy PR’s Washington, D.C. office after a competitive bid process that included several other D.C. area firms.

“Our work with FedBid draws upon two of our core strengths: marketing to the government buyer and technology public relations,” said Luca Penati, managing director, Global Technology Practice. “FedBid is clearly a leader in its industry, and we are confident that our work with the company will help elevate its position in the market.”
