Sydney, 8 September 2005 — Howorth Communications, an Ogilvy PR Worldwide Company, has announced that Kieran Moore and Graham White have been appointed joint managing directors. Mike Howorth, who has been managing director of the company for the last seven years, will remain a director of the company and takes on the new role of chairman.
“This is a very exciting announcement for us and marks a new stage in Howorth’s evolution,” said Chris Savage, managing partner of Ogilvy PR Australia. “Kieran and Graham are great PR operators, have more than 30 years combined experience and have complementary skills which make it ideal for them to share the managing director position. They have been an integral part of growing and expanding Howorth over the last few years and understand exactly how to take the business forward. The time is right for Kieran and Graham to lead Howorth into a new growth phase.”
In his new role of chairman, Mike will continue to play an active and strategic role in advising and mentoring Kieran and Graham. In addition, he will focus on developing areas which will add value to the Howorth business. Specifically, he will be looking at identifying new areas for growth; working with technology industry leaders to identify future communications challenges; identifying global best practice techniques; and product development. He will also be involved in strategic projects for Ogilvy PR which will extend the group’s footprint in Australia.
“We have an exceptionally talented team of people, great clients and strong backing from Ogilvy PR Australia and Worldwide. I am looking forward to my new role as chairman and the exciting projects we have planned for the future,” said Mike Howorth.
Howorth Communications is one of Australia’s most successful and long running communications businesses. It operates out of Sydney, has more than 36 staff and some of its clients include: Microsoft, Motorola, Toshiba Information Systems Division, Lexmark, engin, Bang & Olufsen, Citrix Systems, NCR, Hitachi Data Systems, Alcatel, and AMD.
As the new managing directors of Howorth, Kieran and Graham will streamline their responsibilities so that Kieran will focus on client services and marketing and Graham will look after finance and operations. They will both continue with their existing client and business development responsibilities.
“We are proud and excited to be taking on these new roles,” said Kieran Moore. “Graham and I work extremely well together and complement one another well in terms of our skills and experience. Howorth Communications is a great force within the Australian communications industry. We are in great shape, both in terms of our people, our services and our client base. We are looking forward to driving the next chapter in Howorth’s history.”
“Having spent over five years at Howorth I have seen the company mature from a small independent business to one that is now part of Australia’s largest PR company - Ogilvy PR,” said Graham White. “This is a huge opportunity and one that I am looking forward to. We have some exciting plans in the pipeline to take this business forward.”
