New York, NY, September 17, 2003 — Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide/Washington strengthened its award-winning Health & Medical Practice with the addition of 20-year health education and health communications veteran Edna Kane-Williams as a senior vice president. She will lead the agency’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases AIDS vaccine awareness account.
“Edna is definitely the perfect fit for this campaign,” said Robert Mathias, managing director, Washington. “AIDS and HIV education have long been a signature Ogilvy PR issue going back to the Surgeon General’s letter on AIDS in 1987. A long-time health education veteran, with substantial AIDS and HIV experience, Edna has the skill sets to take this vaccine awareness campaign to the next level of public awareness, especially in minority communities.”
Prior to joining Ogilvy PR, Kane-Williams was vice president, Programs and Research for the Epilepsy Foundation’s national office. There, she oversaw the growth of the Foundation’s programs, services and education media campaign with a special emphasis on women, and Hispanic- and African-Americans. She also has a decade of experience working on a variety of health communications campaigns for AARP and has spent more than four years working on AIDS education programs.
Kane-Williams holds a masters of arts degree from George Washington University and a bachelors of arts degree from Yale University. She has also completed all of her course work toward a masters of science degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health.
