Beijing, China, January 11, 2005 — Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide today announced the promotion of Scott Kronick to President, Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, China. The promotion recognizes Mr. Kronick’s contribution to building Ogilvy PR into China’s leading public relations consultancy.
An 18-year Ogilvy veteran with nine of those years spent in Beijing, Mr. Kronick most recently was Managing Director, Ogilvy PR, China. In this role, he was responsible for the leadership and management of staff in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, offices he founded for Ogilvy PR in China in 1995 and 1996.
During this time, Mr. Kronick helped build the firm into China’s market leader in terms of size, client base, talent and relationships. At a time when Ogilvy PR saw its business grow quickly, Mr. Kronick ensured the agency stayed ahead of the field by strategically investing across practices and industry sectors.
“Scott is a real leader who has made a difference for our company. Ogilvy PR now has a unprecedented share of the major clients and announcements shaping the Chinese economy,”said Marcia Silverman, Chief Executive Officer, Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide. In recent months, Ogilvy PR has supported groundbreaking business deals in China, including Lenovo’s acquisition of IBM’s PC unit.
In his new role, Mr. Kronick will continue to make a major contribution to the entire Ogilvy Group’s expansion and success in China. In addition, Mr. Kronick will help further deepen understanding of China within the organization, and make it a differentiator for Ogilvy PR as a global network. As President, China, Mr. Kronick will also provide support to the Hong Kong office, particularly to major regional clients that can benefit from his guidance.
Scott will also continue working with the management team of H-Line Ogilvy, Ogilvy PR’s locally acquired partner firm. Ogilvy PR and H-Line Ogilvy combine to form the largest public relations group in China.
“Scott also has a remarkable record of hiring talent and pushing them to succeed,”said Matthew Anderson, Regional Chief Executive, Asia Pacific and EAME. “As a result, Ogilvy PR in China is peopled with staff with diverse backgrounds, deep specialist skills, and a unified will to win. The strength and stability of our directors sets us apart.”
