Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide Tops Regional PR Week Awards, Winning Asia Pacific Network of the Year

Hong Kong, China, December 1, 2002 — Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide (Ogilvy PR) has won the PR Week Awards 2002 grand prix, for Asia Pacific Network of the Year. In addition, Ogilvy PR took home three category top prizes, both the Ethical and OTC awards in the Healthcare sector and the award for best financial campaign of the year. In total, Ogilvy PR won more awards and more top prizes than any other entrant.

The campaign awards included: for work for Roche in Indonesia, Internet Thailand in Thailand, and Procter and Gamble in Japan; and three certificates for Nestlé in Malaysia, Unilever in Thailand, and Cable and Wireless in Hong Kong.

In its citation for the Asia Pacific Network of the Year win, PR Week noted “After viewing winning entries from Ogilvy PR in other award categories, Armstrong (Elizabeth Armstrong, senior corporate affairs manager, Regional Corporate Affairs, Hong Kong, China and NE Asia, Standard Chartered Bank) earmarked a consistency and quality of approach that was evident across all of the consultancy network’s regional offices ‘It seems to be the network way — they just have very well thought-out work, measurable outcomes and the results of the work are very clear to see. From a corporate point of view, you’re inclined to think ‘that would be a consultancy I would hire’.

Ogilvy PR’s winning entry was titled “Better Work for Bigger Brands” and outlined the network’s record of value-added work for leading companies in the region. Ogilvy PR won new assignments for Coca-Cola, UPS, JP Morgan, Louis Vuitton, and Qantas since the start of 2002. PR Week continued, “The results speak for themselves. In the past year, Ogilvy PR Asia Pacific has represented 25 of the world’s top 50 most valuable brands, as ranked by Interbrand. All of the network’s top ten clients—which include IBM, Pfizer, Nestlé, and BMW—have been retained.”

The award also stressed Ogilvy PR’s record at attracting, developing and retaining talent.

With 25 offices, Ogilvy PR is the region’s most extensive network. It has nearly 550 staff and unrivalled presence in China, India, and Japan. The firm has a 25-year record in Asia, working with senior-most business leaders on the challenges and opportunities relating to growth, capital-raising, ally development, employee communications, government access, issues management, leadership positioning, overseas CEO visits, media relations and business development. This is the third time in five years that Ogilvy PR has won either Network of the Year or Consultancy of the Year in Asia.
