Business Media Veteran Christopher Graves Named President, Asia Pacific of Ogilvy PR

Hong Kong, China, January 11, 2005 — Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide (Ogilvy PR) has appointed Christopher Graves as President, Asia Pacific. Graves will oversee and continue to expand Ogilvy PR’s regional network, which is widely recognized as a leader in terms of client base, professional talent, geographic coverage and award-winning work. Industry sources, such as PR Week, have ranked Ogilvy PR number one in Asia and the Holmes Report recently named Ogilvy PR its International Network of the Year.

Graves comes to Ogilvy PR from Dow Jones, where he has worked for the past 18 years. In total, he has worked 23 years in print, Internet and television media with experience on three continents in both editorial and leadership roles. After beginning his career as a producer with business news programs on ESPN, CNN and syndicated by Disney, Graves joined Dow Jones as founding producer and promoted to head of Wall Street Journal Television. Graves then became Vice President of News and Programming at both CNBC Asia and CNBC Europe, Managing Director of business development (Europe & Asia) for the online and interactive side of Dow Jones, and Managing Director of the Far Eastern Economic Review, where he programmed and managed such annual events as the Young Inventors Awards, Asian Innovation Awards and Review 200: Asia’s Leading Companies.

Graves is also highly regarded as a public speaker and moderator working with CEOs and heads of state at such events as the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos, Global Entrepolis@Singapore, Brandworld China, Internet World and 3G World Congress.

“We have always believed in the power of advanced public relations and public affairs in Asia Pacific. No business can become a brand or own first-rate brands without a systematic approach to goodwill and influence, and success has come to us where we view the business as part of a 360 degree communications world, and not as a sect apart,” said Miles Young, Chairman, Asia Pacific of Ogilvy & Mather. ” I have known Chris for many years. Ogilvy PR’s new regional head is a professional of tremendous caliber. He has a grasp of the issues that keep top executives and government officials awake at night,” continued Mr Young.

“I can’t think of a more exciting way to leverage my experience in news and my conference work with top executives on issues ranging from the fostering of innovation, to crisis management and corporate responsibility,” said Graves. “The term ‘PR’ alone doesn’t begin to describe the amazing work being done in 360 degree branding by Ogilvy, not to mention Ogilvy PR’s strengths in such areas as IR, public affairs, internal communications and CSR. It’s an explosive and creative force in a dynamic region. I’m fortunate to be joining a market leader with such a high standard of committed professionals,” added Graves.

Matthew Anderson, who was named Chief Executive, Asia Pacific and EAME, in 2003, last held Graves’s role. Anderson, who is now based in London, is responsible for the network’s operations outside the Americas, reporting to global CEO, Marcia Silverman and the regional Ogilvy Chairmen.

“Not only has Chris spent decades starting up, positioning and running news operations around the world, he has also engaged CEOs and heads of state in public forums and broken ground in thought-leadership research and smart marketing solutions,” says Matthew Anderson. “I expect Chris to offer trusted counsel to senior executives in the region and buck conventions of how media relations and research are used by PR firms and their clients.”

Graves, his wife and two daughters reside in Hong Kong.
