January 12, 2005, Beverly Hills, CA — Five years after its acquisition by Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, B|W|R Public Relations has announced that founding partners Paul Baker, Larry Winokur and Nanci Ryder will remain at the company’s helm for another three years. While evidencing the long-term stability of the 25-year-old firm, its growth and multi-disciplinary expertise have also been strengthened through the launch of a new division, B|W|R PPI, under the direction of product placement specialist Matt Meyerson, the promotion of two longtime senior executives, Dvora Vener Englefield and Leslie Sloane Zelnik, and the expansion of its film department with the hiring of former mPRm executive Chris Libby.
Of the partners’ commitment to leading B|W|R through October 2007, co-CEO Paul Baker stated, “Now that we’ve gotten past the economic turbulence of the past few years, Larry, Nanci and I have enjoyed a renewed sense of camaraderie in our management of B|W|R, which I can honestly say has assembled the best staff we have ever had. We’ve also grown into a very warm and accommodating relationship with Ogilvy PR, which understands that B|W|R is a unique subsidiary and appreciates the assets we bring to them and their parent company, WPP.”
“I am pleased with the commitment that Paul, Larry and Nanci have given to B|W|R and to Ogilvy PR over the past five years,” said Marcia Silverman, CEO, Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide. “They continue to look for ways to make B|W|R a best-in-class firm and I look forward to continued collaboration with them.”
Newest among those assets is B|W|R PPI (Placement, Promotions & Integration), a newly formed division that leverages B|W|R’s deep reach into entertainment and youth markets and the firm’s experience in the field as a by-product of its quarter-century of publicity work. Heading the new division is Matt Meyerson, who has worked with B|W|R over the years representing apparel manufacturers and action sports clients for placement and partnerships. Meyerson has facilitated placement efforts with such production entities as Paramount, A&E and Brookwell/McNamara Entertainment, and other brands such as Swatch, Billabong and the CineVegas Film Festival.
Leslie Sloane Zelnik, a ten-year veteran based in B|W|R’s New York office, has been promoted from senior vice president of talent to managing director of talent. Working in tandem with senior publicists in B|W|R’s Beverly Hills headquarters, among her clients are Ashton Kutcher, Chris Rock, Lindsay Lohan, Lauren Graham, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Greg Kinnear, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze, Jr., Renée Zellweger, Jacinda Barrett and Katie Holmes.
Dvora Vener Englefield, promoted from account director to vice president of music, recently spearheaded the Rock the Vote campaign and their national bus tour and is currently working on Clive Davis’ 2005 Grammy party, the reunion and tour for bad-boy rockers Mötley Crüe, and “American Idol,” among other campaigns. Integral to the launch and first three seasons of “American Idol,” Vener Englefield has helped lead the corporate campaigns for 19 Entertainment and Immortal Entertainment. She has also represented such talent as Kelly Clarkson, Ice Cube, Tommy Lee, Ziggy Marley, Monica and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins.
Chris Libby, who joins B|W|R as vice president, film and entertainment, most recently served as director of the film practice at mPRm Public Relations working on Beyond the Sea, A Very Long Engagement, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, We Don’t Live Here Anymore, Dogville and El Crimen del Padre Amaro, among other films, as well as corporate accounts such as THINKFilm and Participant Productions. Heading to the Sundance Film Festival later this month for several clients, Libby’s current film work at B|W|R includes Hard Candy, Thumbsucker, The Matador, Mail Order Wife and Richard Linklater’s A Scanner Darkly, among other projects.
Headquartered in Beverly Hills with offices in New York, B|W|R Public Relations has established a 25-year reputation as a full-service firm.
