New York, NY, August 13, 2002 — Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, a subsidiary of the WPP Group and a top-ten international public relations firm, today announced the appointment of Marcia Silverman as chief executive officer. Ms. Silverman replaces Bob Seltzer, who resigned to pursue other opportunities.
“When I joined Ogilvy five years ago, the company was in need of a jumpstart,” said CEO Bob Seltzer. “After coming through a difficult year last year, I believe Ogilvy is back on track and my work is complete. I look forward to taking on a new “building” challenge.”
Seltzer’s resignation will take effect end of the month.

Ms. Silverman assumes her new role after serving for more than two years as President of the Americas for Ogilvy. Prior to that, Ms. Silverman served for 10 years as the head of the Washington, DC. office where she guided the office to unprecedented growth. As CEO, Ms. Silverman will oversee the company’s global practices and regional operations in North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia/Pacific.

Silverman announced that Paul Hicks, the current managing director of Ogilvy PR’s New York office, will assume Ms. Silverman’s role as President of the Americas. Kym White, managing director of Ogilvy PR’s Health and Medical Practice, will assume the position of New York office head. Silverman said, “I believe that we have a management team moving forward focused on delivering excellent client service, creating professional opportunities for staff, growing the business and continuing to develop the agency’s global network.”
