Washington, D.C., August 22, 2006 – Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide’s Washington office today announced that Andrew Gray, longtime communications director for the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, has joined the agency as an Account Director in the Public Affairs practice. Previously, Gray served as Deputy Press Secretary in the personal office of Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala).

“Ogilvy PR’s already robust public affairs practice has an unmatched ability to connect the dots where government, policy and politics meet,” said Robert F. Mathias, Managing Director of Ogilvy PR/Washington. “Andrew has the experience to greatly assist our clients with a broad range of public affairs needs and issues and we are delighted to have him as a key member of our team.”

Gray has extensive experience with financial services, housing and transit issues. Gray served as the Senate Committee’s Communications Director for four years and was the principle liaison to the media for all of Sen. Shelby’s activities as they relate to the Senate Banking Committee. During his tenure with Chairman Shelby, the Committee passed numerous pieces of legislation, including Fair Credit Reporting Act, reauthorization of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program and legislation to reform the regulatory structure of the Housing Government Sponsored Enterprises. The Committee also held hearings devoted to a wide variety of financial services issues, including Sarbanes-Oxley, hedge funds, mutual funds, credit rating agencies, money laundering and terror finance.
