Event Date: April 1, 2011
The annual Women in PR Charity / Scholarship Fundraising Event will be held this year on Friday, 1st April (no, that's not a joke) at The River Room at Crown.
The guest speaker for this year’s lunch is Samantha Allen, Managing Director of Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide’s Global Consumer Marketing Practice, who will be flying in from New York for the event. She is a global trouble-shooter who works with the world’s most famous brands and she will share with us her experiences and tips.
Funds raised from the auctions and raffles will be donated to:
• the PRIA’s Merle Howard Prize, a PR Scholarship at RMIT named in honour of Merle Howard, a journalism and public relations pioneer who for many years was also the Public Relations Director at the Peter McCallum Institute and the first full time tertiary lecturer in public relations at RMIT, and
• The Social Studio - a dynamic space where clothing is created from the style and skills of the young refugee community. Recycled and excess manufacturing materials are gathered from local industry and re-configured into original clothing. The Social Studio empowers young people from the refugee community in Melbourne to achieve their dreams through work experience and training in clothing design, production, retail and hospitality. Their labels are produced to extremely high quality controls and in a range of sizes.
